Dr. Liu is Vice President, Research and Development at United BioPharma (UBP). Dr. Liu's key responsibilities mostly lie in the CMC(Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control) area with focus on pre-readiness for IND submission. He leads team in areas from genetic engineering, protein biochemistry, formulation and analytical method development.

He began his career within the UBI group in 2005 as a research scientist, initially involved in the development of analytical test methods for the release and characterization of protein drug products. Dr. Liu's track record includes successful transfer of five biological compounds from discovery to manufacturing for clinical development. Expert in NMR spectroscopy in biophysics and structural biology, Dr. Liu’s major accomplishments in this field includes the structure determination of plant defensin with NMR spectroscopy and the characterization of rice nonspecific lipid transfer protein families by using HPLC, LC-MS, spectrofluorometer, isothermal titraion calorimeter and circular dichroism.

Dr. Liu received his Ph.D. in D Life Sciences from National Tsing Hua University.
